Calls for help answered by community
Nambucca RSL Club will be assisting with this Great Community Initiative through the provision of Venue and Services.

Nambucca Heads RSL was gearing up to deliver some much-needed supplies to drought stricken farmers out west when the 2019 bushfires hit the Nambucca Valley.

The Club put a call out to our Facebook community and thousands of people responded to our calls for help, supplies and donations.

People left donations piled high at the doorstep as staff arrived to open the doors and members of the community turned up in droves to volunteer.

People were bringing in trays of home-baked goodies, and armfuls of clothes from their wardrobes.

Local businesses also supported the call out with Woolworths and IGA donating water and fruit. We were so please see other local businesses such as  Nambucca Care and Wear donated food packs; Nambucca Plaza Bakery and Nambucca Hot Bake have been donating fresh bread, cakes and sausage rolls daily.

Everyone worked hard and tirelessly assembling goodies into snack packs, providing meals to those on the front line and all the hard-working emergency services crews.

Our staff worked overtime to help deliver meals, organise supplies and volunteers and we would like to thank all those involved for donating their time during this time of need.

We opened the RSL to those who needed emergency accommodation with Mid Coast Trucks helping deliver over 50 mattresses to accommodate anyone who needed a place to rest and refuel, or just have a chat about their experiences and trauma.

Food, drink, ice and fuel for the generators were also sent posthaste to Taylors Arm once the community heard about their situation.

And Mid Coast Trucks helped deliver 50-odd mattresses and cots from the Stuarts Point Convention Centre which are on stand-by at the RSL to accommodate anyone in need of a place to rest their head.

Thanks again, to all those who helped, we hope that we never have to experience another time where such resourcefulness is needed but if that time does arrive, Nambucca RSL will be there to help those in need again.
